ARDSLEY
Living in the village of Ardsley offers residents a dense suburban feel with plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. Ardsley is a more diverse community, compared to other Westchester towns. The public schools in Ardsley are highly rated. Ardsley does not have a metro north train station, most residents commute out of the Dobbs Ferry, Scarsdale or Hartsdale stations. Ardsley residents have to use private parking lots which are generally waitlisted or the 12-15 hour metered spots. Train Time: 36 minutes
ARMONK
Armonk’s rural charm and abundant amenities makes it a highly desirable area to live. The attractive downtown has a Hamptons like feel with great restaurants and shops. You can find large properties in Armonk and the town pool and private clubs are additional draws. The Byram Hills school district is consistently highly ranked. There is no train station in Armonk, residents commute out of the Northern White Plains station which has ample parking and frequent express trains. Train Time: 36 minutes (North White Plains station)
BEDFORD
With rolling hills and horse farms, Bedford has more of a small town country feel. You can get a lot of land in Bedford. Celebrities such as Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively live in Bedford. Train Time: 55 minutes
BRIARCLIFF MANOR
Briarcliff Manor, an incorporated village of about six square miles, 30 miles up the Hudson River from Manhattan, has highly-regarded schools and expansive homes. It truly is a family-centric community with a great town pool which often features live music on the weekends. The Scarborough train station has valet parking and the train goes along the Hudson River making for a scenic commute. Train Time: 43 minutes
CHAPPAQUA
Chappaqua is a hamlet located in the Town of New Castle. Living in Chappaqua offers residents a sparse suburban feel with an easy commute to Manhattan and one of the most sought after school districts in the state. Chappaqua is rich with outdoor spaces like Gedney Park along with various recreational and community amenities. You can catch a Tuesday night live concert or outdoor family movie in the summertime. Chappaqua has a multitude of private pool, tennis and golf clubs and small-town eateries for everyone’s taste. Ranked #1 in Best Places to Buy a House in New York City Area by Niche in 2021. HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON
Nearly three-square miles overlooking the Hudson River, with views of the Pallisades and Manhattan skyline. With a walkable downtown and an arts and crafts vibe Hastings-on-Hudson has a miniature Brooklyn like feel. Train Time: 31 minutes
IRVINGTON
One of the most popular river towns and for a good reason! Irvington has a small town feel with highly rated schools, close proximity to the city and scenic River views. Irvington has a great downtown filled with well-known restaurants and quaint shops. The residents-only Matthiessen Park has a boat launch. Train Time: 38 minutes
LARCHMONT
With a walkable downtown, waterfront access, spacious homes and proximity to Manhattan, this affluent community is highly desirable. Larchmont is on the Long Island Sound side of Westchester which attracts boaters and beach lovers. Little ones will love climbing the firetruck in Turtle Park or the massive pirate ship playground at Flint Park and there’s even a beach just for dogs. Larchmont residents are districted to attend Mamaroneck School District schools. Train Time: 30 minutes
NEW ROCHELLE
A waterfront suburb with a socioeconomic mix. On Main Street in downtown New Rochelle, you’ll find delicious Latino restaurants. New Rochelle has a diverse housing mix including quite a few co-ops. There are many varying pockets of neighborhoods throughout New Rochelle. Wilmott Woods (which is closer to Scarsdale) is a highly desirable area. Train Time: 27 minutes
PLEASANTVILLE
One of a few walking towns in Westchester. Pleasantville has a great downtown, with highly regarded restaurants, shops, Jacob Burns Cinema and year-round Saturday farmers market. There are no school busses in Pleasantville so many even walk to the schools which are highly regarded. Train Time: 48 minutes
RYE
Set on the Long Island Sound, the City of Rye has a protected harbor, rolling hills, tree-lined streets, and an intimate community feeling. Rye’s most famous landmark is the 1928 amusement park Playland, which survived a blow from Hurricane Sandy that destroyed its boardwalk. There are 34 acres of beachfront to enjoy in Rye. Rye is known as a top school district. Train Time: 36 minutes
RYE BROOK
Rye Brook is a family-centric tight-knit community known for its private school like educational system. Rye Ridge Shopping Center has everything from SoulCycle to Balducci’s Market and even the well-known kids music center Songs for Seeds. There are various planned neighborhoods throughout. Rye Brook does not have a train station, residents commute out of Port Chester, Rye, Harrison or White Plains stations. Train Time: 36 minutes (Rye station)
SCARSDALE
Scarsdale often attracts families from New York City who want spacious homes, convenience to the city and consistently top ranked schools. Scarsdale village is a charming walkable area right by the train station where you will find shops, markets and top restaurants. Scarsdale is broken up into five neighborhoods, each with its own elementary school. Train Time: 29 minutes
TARRYTOWN
City vibes mixed with small-town charm along the Hudson River. Tarrytown is known for its eclectic food scene, whether you want seasonal fine dining in a castle or inventive take-away tacos, you’re in luck. The Tarrytown Music Hall and RiverWalk Park along the river are other big attractions. Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow feature an integrated school system. Prekindergarten and kindergarten are at the John Paulding School; first and second grades at W.L. Morse School, and third to fifth grades at Washington Irving Intermediate School. Students attend Sleepy Hollow Middle School and Sleepy Hollow High School. Train Time: 36 minutes
WHITE PLAINS
White Plains is the anchor of Westchester County, providing a mixture of city and suburban life. There’s everything that you would want in a small city, from great dining to parks to some of the best malls in the state. Train Time: 33 minutes
